Remember how annoyed the French were with the NSA’s spying? Well, apparently they were annoyed because they didn’t have the same powers or capability. That’s about to change– at least the “power” issue is. I suspect they have a ways to go before the French intelligence agencies can match the capabilities of the NSA.
Many words and phrases come to mind to describe Europe’s double standard on this issue. The new draft privacy regulations has sweeping loopholes for criminal and national security investigations.
I think I need to add “double standard” as a new category for my blog.
A pity, the article is not freely available. At least not for me in Germany.
