Breach Causes Firm’s Bankruptcy

The Wall Street Journal has a brief blurb about a California company filing for bankruptcy because the costs of dealing with a breach, or as the Wall Street Journal puts it, “electronic escape” (really?), were prohibitive. For smaller companies, a breach could be devastating and this is a warning to small and medium-sized businesses that rely on data (and who doesn’t these days) to run their business.

I often think there is a real opportunity for someone to come out with a few simple offerings for small and medium-sized businesses on the privacy and data protection front. Of course, I am hunting bigger fish. 😉
